Taste of Tasman
The Nelson Tasman region is famous for its food, wine and beer and at Kaiteriteri’s Waterfront restaurant we’re proud to showcase the very best for you to enjoy. We love fresh produce so much that 90% of Waterfront’s menus are created using only locally sourced product.
Starting with the ocean, our incredible aquaculture industry enables us to serve fresh and flavourful salmon, mussels and a wide range of sustainably caught fish year round. We make the most of this bountiful kaimoana through a variety of delicious menu dishes.
We love the variety of artisan food producers in our region. With a diverse population from around the World choosing to live in Nelson Tasman many have brought their growing and food production skills with them. Olive oils, cheeses, gourmet mushrooms, local conserves, honey, berries, and world famous peanut butter, are just some of the delicious offerings made by our local producers.
As Aotearoa’s craft brewing and hop growing capital, and the World’s top cider city, there’s plenty to choose from when it comes to a cold refreshing drink to match with your meal, or just to enjoy watching the world go by as the sea laps at our golden beach!
Another specialty of our region are our pip fruit and berries. Recording some of the longest sunshine hours in the country, along with fertile soil and growing expertise you won’t find more plumptious Boysenberries, Strawberries, Plums, Apricots or Apples. As you can imagine this opens up a treasure trove of creative opportunities for our sweet toothed chefs.
Oh yeah - and we do OK at making wine too! You can read more about that in our Nelson Tasman wine blog. Our wineries and cellar doors have some of the most stunning natural backdrops you’ll find anywhere in New Zealand, and are well worth taking your time to visit and enjoy. A day trip can easily see you touring the wine route from the Waimea Plains to the Moutere Hills, tasting your way around the extraordinary Reisling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc varieties.
