Moutere Artisans

Grab a map and take a self-guided tour of the Moutere Artisans Village. Here, you can visit artists in their studios, taste jams and chutneys at the Old Post Office, have a beer in New Zealand’s oldest pub, taste your way around cellar doors and meet the makers behind some of Nelson Tasman’s best handcrafted products

Upper Moutere – a small village outside Nelson in New Zealand’s South Island – home to a bunch of creative and productive people.

They make glorious wine, stunning cheeses from both sheep and cows milk. They grow gourmet mushrooms, crush rich olives for fresh and peppery olive oil.  Try artisan’s sausages, salami and smoked duck. Discover the unique flavour of black garlic. Enjoy delicious sourdough pizza and local artwork. The Artisans include famous ceramic artists, sculptors, wood workers and a jeweller. The Moutere Inn is the oldest pub in New Zealand and pours 13 artisan beers and serves great meals. Handmade baskets from local supplejack and willow and fields of gorgeous Paeonies complete the picture.

These people are the Moutere Artisans and they invite you to explore their very special village to experience the best of country living

Not all Moutere Artisans are open to the public. Please check out individual listings and websites for opening hours and accessibility.

The next Moutere Artisans Open Day is 23 April 2023 from 10am till 4pm. See you then!
